Soulgood Express Is Launching A Plant-Based Quick Service Restaurant in Frisco
According to the history shared on Visit Frisco, Frisco, Texas got its start from hardy pioneers who helped settle one of America’s newest states: Texas, admitted to the Union in 1845.
Most families who came to the north Texas prairie followed the Preston Trail (today’s Preston Road), a trail that began as an Indian footpath from the Red River south to Austin. Later, the route was known as the Shawnee Trail upon which millions of longhorn cattle were driven to markets in the north. The trail followed a high ridge of white rock that provided a dry path for the cattle. A Texas State Historic Marker about the Shawnee Trail is located at Collin College’s Frisco Campus.

Soulgood started in Dallas as a pop up restaurant in the Dallas Farmers Market in 2014 followed by its launch of its flagship restaurant in Denton, TX on the Texas Woman's University. Soulgood is focused on making tasty plant-based food more accessible, available and affordable and expanding into more North Texas cities is part of the plan. Soulgood is now launch its third quick service restaurant in Frisco, Texas on TX-121 near Preston Road.

Combining rich Texas agriculture and culinary art together in a unique way is a science and an art form.
When I am in the kitchen creating new recipes and meals I feel like an artist. I am inspired by the aroma, the colors of fruits and vegetables, and the fact that produce can pack an incredible amount of healing power in them - naturally, says Soulgood CEO and Head Creative Chef, Cynthia Nevels.
Historically, Frisco remained an agricultural center for decades, boasting five cotton gins at one time. The population remained below 2,000 residents until a growth spurt in the 1980s foreshadowed what was to come. By 1990, Frisco’s location, its quality of life and visionary leadership contributed to it becoming the fastest growing city in the nation with a population of about 120,000 in 2011. Today Frisco’s population is over 200,000.
With over 200,000 residents in what was formerly known as Frisco City, a high percentage of residents are plant-based and flexitarian consumers who crave more culinary options at home and at work.
Frisco is home to many restaurants and corporations ranging from FedEx, Fiserv, Oracle to MoneyGram Payment Systems. More corporations and Fortune 500 companies are looking for diverse culinary options to offer to and share with employees who have taken the pilgrimage to Frisco.
We are honored to have the opportunity to expand into Frisco with our partners, Kitchen United Mix, and to partner with major corporations this season to deliver plant-based health education to employers looking for creative ways to keep their employees healthy. We are also looking forward to providing exclusive vegan catering services to more corporations in Frisco, Plano and Allen, Texas.

This month in celebration of Black History Month, Soulgood is partnering with MoneyGram International and The Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation led by current TIAA CEO Thasunda Brown Duckett, a fire side chat with former Social Venture Partners Dallas leader, Prisma Garcia now MoneyGram International's Social Impact Strategist and Soulgood CEO, Cynthia Nevels.
Soulgood is focused on strengthening its impact in local communities it serves. The restaurant company can only impact environmental change and positively improve health disparities through the donations and the help of thoughtful partners and cities who welcome more vegan businesses into the community.
Soulgood is scheduled to host its Frisco soft launch on February 14, 2023 in collaboration with Just Egg and Kitchen United Mix. Patrons will be able to order vegan breakfast, lunch and dinner from 10:00am - 7:00pm CST on SoulgoodExpress.com, Kitchen United Mix online, UberEats, DoorDash, and GrubHub. Visitors will be able to enjoy the unique dine-in experience in Frisco and take a journey to experience how Chef Cynthia fuses agriculture and culinary art each day through her plant-based menu.
